AVOID the 13 Sonoma County DUI Task Force
DUI/DL CHECKPOINT RESULTS
Two Checkpoints in Santa Rosa Net 6 DUI Arrests
Santa Rosa, California – On Friday night August 17, 2012 between the hours of 6:00pm and 1:00am Saturday morning, the AVOID the 13 Sonoma County DUI Task Force in conjunction with the Santa Rosa Police Department conducted two DUI and Driver’s License Checkpoints in the City of Santa Rosa. The checkpoints were set up to screen WB drivers on State Route 12 west of Mission Drive and EB drivers on State Route 12 east of Brush Creek Drive. The purpose of the checkpoint operations were to inform the motoring public of the dangers associated with impaired driving and to take enforcement action against impaired drivers and those driving with a suspended license or no license at all.
AVOID the 13 conducted the WB checkpoint and Santa Rosa Police Department conducted the EB checkpoint. The WB AVOID checkpoint yielded the following results:
1309 vehicles through the two checkpoints
1248 drivers screened by officers for signs of DUI and license checks
63 drivers directed into nearby parking area for further investigation.
14 drivers arrested.
4 drivers arrested for DUI
3 drivers arrested for driving with a suspended license
7 drivers arrested were for driving without a license
0 drivers arrested for possession of drugs
7 vehicles towed from checkpoint
5 vehicles impounded for 30 days.
In the EB direction, Santa Rosa PD recorded two DUI arrests. Refer to separate SRPD press release for EB checkpoint results.
Enforcement results from the county-wide efforts for Avoid the 13 Sonoma County DUI Task Force will be reported later today when the 13 agencies report their DUI arrest and alcohol involved collision numbers. Funding for this program and the AVOID the 13 DUI Task Force has been provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
