The “Lakewood Juggernauts,” comprised of deputies from the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station, competed in a Plane Pull competition at the Long Beach Airport last Saturday. The team of 25 pulled a 164,000 pound Fed Ex Airbus 310 to benefit local Special Olympic athletes. Teams competed against each other by pulling a rope attached to the airplane’s front wheels.
Our team of “Lakewood Juggernauts” won the “Fastest Pull” trophy, pulling the massive plane 12 feet in 8.2 seconds. The team was additionally crowned as the “2012 Plane Pull Law Enforcement Champions.”
It was a very rewarding challenge for a worthy cause. Each team was required to raise a minimum of $1,000.00 for Special Olympics of Southern California to compete in the event.
