Police Out in Force in School Zones Starting Tomorrow;Keeping your kids safe as they return to school is our priority
Franklin, TN – As students from seven Franklin Special School District schools across the City prepare for their first day of school tomorrow morning, Franklin Police are prepared to be sure that they get to and from school safely. Officers will be out in force, strictly enforcing school speed zones and ensuring that motorists obey school crossing guards.
“Drivers can anticipate some congestion and prominent police presence as we provide highly visible patrols and enforcement at every school in the City,” said Sergeant David Prather of the Department’s Traffic Unit. “We will be very closely monitoring school zone traffic and citing violators.”
Classes for Williamson County School District students resume Friday. Drivers will see stepped up patrols and a zero-tolerance approach by officers for anyone caught speeding in a school zone. Officers will also be on the lookout for drivers who pass a stopped school bus, in either direction, when the bus’ red flashing lights are activated.
Police encourage parents to talk to their children about safely crossing the street and walking through parking lots.
