Junior Police Academy Accepting Applications

The Dallas Junior Police Academy will be accepting complete applications for the November 3rd Session starting on August 20 thru September 20, 2012.

Applications will be available at www.Dallaspolice.net .

What is the Dallas Junior Police Academy?
The Dallas Junior Police Academy is a daylong training session held on a Saturday, for students grades 4-7 held at the Dallas Police Department’s Basic Training Academy.

What will the students who attend be doing?
Students who attend the JPA will be spending the their time at the academy immersed in a day of new experiences as each student receives instruction from recruit trainers. They are challenged on decision making, experience numerous hands-on activities such as the obstacle course and physical training (PT) to get the feel of what it would be like as a Dallas Police Academy recruit and meet officers from around the police department who are assigned to specialized units such as K-9, Mounted Unit, SWAT Team, Motorcycle Officers and Helicopter Unit. In addition, outstanding instructors will be discussing such topics as how to combat Drugs and Gang’s, what does a Crime Scene Investigator do and much more!

Who is eligible?
Students grades 4-7 who send in a COMPLETE AND READABLE application are eligible to attend. Make sure you have a good email address, correct mailing address and a working phone number.

How will I know if my student is placed in the November 3rd session?
Those students who are placed in a JPA session will receive notice (via e-mail or US mail or phone call) from the JPA that their student has been be placed in a session. So print clearly on all applications.

How do the students get to and from the JPA Session?
Parents or other family members are responsible for registering the student the morning of the class and picking up the student at the end of the day.

Do I need to send food with my student?
No, lunch will be provided for a $5.00 fee to be paid at student check-in. Scholarships are available.
