Law Enforcement and the City of Oakland are teaming up with the community for a bone marrow drive this Sunday.

Law Enforcement and the City of Oakland are teaming up with the community for a bone marrow drive, Sunday, July 29,2012.

The Fruitvale Unity NCPC voted to help Bart Police and St. Elizabeth Church with a bone marrow drive in the Fruitvale for a 14 year old Oakland youth, Cynthia Rodriguez. The NCPC is working to spread the word city wide. We are asking community groups to help support this very important effort by attending the event and helping spread the word.

The bone marrow drive will take place:

Sunday, July 29th, 9am-3pm
Saint Elizabeth Church
1500-34th Ave., Oakland

Right now Cynthia has not been able to find a match in her family and time is running out. We are asking Oakland to come out and be screened to see if they might be a match for Cynthia. The statistics are dire in ethnic communities, 10% for Latinos and 7% for African American, chance that they will find a bone marrow match. Chances that they find a match for Cynthia are much higher in the latino community.
Oakland can improve the odds for a bone marrow match not only for Cynthia but for many others that are looking for a match. Oakland is rich in its diversity and we want Oakland to step forward to help find a bone marrow match and save this Oakland youth's life.
