The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory until 8pm this evening. Temperatures this afternoon will reach into the upper 90's with heat indexes between 100 and 105.
The elderly, children, people who spend long periods of time outdoors and those without air conditioning are most at risk. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Regularly check on those at risk.
If you must be outside, take extra precautions. Wear light weight, loose fitting clothing, drink lots of water and take plenty of rest breaks.
If you or someone you know should start to feel the effects of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, move to a cool, shaded place and call 9-1-1 immediately
