Helicopter rescue crew deputies from Los Angeles County Sheriff's Air Rescue 5, responded to and ultimately rescued two injured hikers and one person trapped on a sheer cliff in the Angeles National Forest within just over an hour starting at 1PM. The rescues occurred in two popular recreational areas in the Angeles National Forest approximately 15 miles apart on Friday, July 13th.

Video was recorded by deputies on the first of three of the rescues:

1st Rescue

The first rescue occurred at Eaton Falls Friday, July 13th, when a male adult from Pasadena fell 80 feet and landed on the canyon floor north of Altadena. He sustained moderate trauma injuries and was treated by Sheriff's Emergency Services Detail paramedics and hoisted up into the aircraft.

2nd Rescue

As soon as the first person was rescued, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Air Rescue 5 crew saw another male hiker precariously perched on an Eaton Canyon sheer cliff face approximately 150 feet above the canyon floor. Eaton canyon is north of Altadena in the Angeles National Forest. The hiker was unable to move and was in a dire situation. A rescue deputy paramedic was lowered to the victim, a resident of Pasadena, and he was safely secured with a rescue strap and hoisted into the helicopter.

At the conclusion of the two rescues in Eaton Canyon, Sheriff's Air Rescue 5 flew the first injured party to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.

3rd Rescue

While at the hospital with the earlier rescued victim, Sheriff's Air Rescue 5 received a call of yet another person who had fallen over sixty feet at the base of Hermit Falls, at the Chantry Flat Campground north of Arcadia in the Angeles National Forest. Once again a rescue sheriff's deputy paramedic from the Emergency Services Detail was lowered to the victim, who is from Moorpark, and he was treated at the scene. He was ultimately hoisted by deputies into the Air Rescue 5 helicopter and transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.
