PRESS RELEASE

DATE / TIME OF RELEASE: 07-17-12, 2:30 PM CRIME: Recovered property
PRESS RELEASE OFFICER: Lt. R. Brandt TELEPHONE: (510) 577-3232

DATE / TIME OCCURRED: 07-09-12, 2 PM

LOCATION: 300 block of Dowling Blvd., San Leandro

INVESTIGATING DETECTIVE(S): Detective Walton

SUSPECT(S): Bryson Bagby, D.O.B 12/28/1988, resident of Hayward

DETAILS:

On 07/03/2012, there was a residential burglary that occurred in the 300 block of Dowling Blvd. The resident discovered a door had been forced open while she was gone. The suspect in the incident stole miscellaneous items including jewelry and a computer and then fled the scene with the loss.

The victim started monitoring “Craigslist” to see if the suspect would attempt to sell the stolen items. The victim located items for sale matching the description of her stolen property. The victim contacted San Leandro Criminal Investigations division to provide them with her findings.

Detectives scheduled an appointment to meet with the suspect to view the items. Detectives met with the suspect and they confirmed he possessed the stolen property and he was taken into custody.

Lt. Brandt said, “The victim of this crime helped our investigators tremendously. Any initial research a victim can do without putting themselves at risk increases the likelihood of solving crimes. I would encourage people to take a proactive approach to helping us by reporting suspicious activity and being good witnesses.”
