We were informed by the City of Arlington Water Utilities that they had 2 victims of this nationwide scam - the Obama Utility Bill Scam. We want to pass along this information to our community to try to prevent another person from being a victim of this type of fraud. This is how the Obama Utiltiy scam operates:

• The suspect contacts customers by telephone and explains to them that the government wants to help pay for their electric or water bill. The suspect will give them a special routing number in exchange for their social security number and banking information. In the end, the payment is declined and the victim is responsible for the balance of the water bill.

We strongly urge you not to provide your private information over the phone, including bank credentials and social security numbers. Please pass this along to your family and friends.
