Deputies heroic actions save baby’s life
Approximately 1:00 am, on July 3rd Compton Station patrol deputies responded to 500 N. Willowbrook Avenue, regarding a baby not breathing call. Upon their arrival, they saw the complex security gate was locked. Realizing the emergent nature of the call they were able to find a small opening in the gate to gain entrance. After finding the apartment the deputies saw a male black infant not breathing and motionless on the floor. The deputies began CPR and after rechecking the baby’s condition realized he still did not have a heartbeat.
They continued CPR while taking the baby outside to transport to the hospital. While en-route to the hospital, he began to breath and became alert. Fire department personnel arrived and continued treating the baby.
The baby was transported to Long Beach Memorial hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The arriving paramedics commented that the deputy’s swift actions saved the child’s life.
