Heat Advisory for Greene County
The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a heat advisory for Greene County this week. The advisory will be in effect for the whole Miami Valley as temperatures warm into the 90s; with the heat index it will be 100 to 105 degrees in the afternoon and early evening.
The National Weather Service advises people in the advisory area to avoid prolonged work in the sun or poorly ventilated areas, to drink plenty of liquids and to try and stay in an air conditioned environment.
Children, the elderly and people with chronic ailments are at more of a risk of being effected by heat, warns the National Weather Service. Heat exhaustion, cramps or heat stroke can result from prolonged exposure to these conditions. Friends, relatives or neighbors should check on people who may be at risk in the affected area.
For those individual without air conditioned environments, consider going to the Greene County Public Library (Tuesday/Thursday Noon – 8 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Friday hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) or area shopping malls.
