Keeping the streets safe | Mt. Juliet Police to Conduct DUI Checkpoint
Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – In our ongoing effort to keep the streets safe, the Mt. Juliet Police Department will be conducting a DUI checkpoint on the evening of Friday, June 29th, 2012 and into the early morning hours of Saturday, June 30th, 2012. Checkpoints will occur on Belinda Parkway, N. Mt. Juliet Road (S.R. 171), West Division Street, and Lebanon Road (U.S. Highway 70) in Mt. Juliet.
The checkpoints are in an effort to continue the Mt. Juliet Police Department’s commitment to traffic safety. Such checkpoints are aimed at deterring impaired driving and reducing alcohol related crashes. Sobriety checkpoints allow Officers to intervene by arresting DUI drivers prior to them becoming involved in a crash. Impaired driving places everyone on the road in the path of danger, and we are doing everything we can to ensure that motorists have a safe place to live and drive.
Impaired driving is a serious crime that kills more than 16,000 people and injures 305,000 others every year in the United States. Officers will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment. In addition, Officers will target those who operate a vehicle while impaired and take corrective actions for other violations observed while ensuring the protection of all motorists.
