Day Shift
#042: A male on a bicycle was splitting lanes at a red light. He moved to the front of stopped traffic, and then cut over to the bike line. Apparently this irritated a male sitting in the traffic in his truck. When the light turned green, the truck caught up to the bicycle (now in the bike lane), and intentionally swerved, striking the rider. The rider flew off his bike and down an embankment. A witness copied the suspect’s plate and returned to help the victim. Sgt. Fowlie spotted the suspect minutes later. The suspect was arrested for felony hit-and-run. The victim sustained minor injuries.
Swing Shift
#043: A witness phoned to report a possible road-rage incident occurring in front of her. One of the involved parties called and we learned that her boyfriend was following her and driving erratically. Ofc. Lambert happened to be just ahead of where the incident was occurring. He waited for the drivers to pass him. When the suspect saw the officer, he began driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Mission Bl. to get away. Ofc. Lambert followed from a distance, but did not make any attempt to stop the car. The suspect car pulled into a driveway. The driver got out and ran. Officers set up a perimeter, and the suspect was located hiding in a shed. The suspect was arrested for several misdemeanors.
Midnight Shift:
#003 WTH (Washington Hospital) Assault with a Deadly Weapon - At about 1:30 am, a van drops off a male at WTH ER with a stab wound to his left arm. The van was last seen W/B Mowry. The victim refused to tell us where it happened. The victims injury was severe and he was airlifted to a local trauma center for surgery.
