SUBJECT: Free iPhone Application.
DETAILS:
The San Leandro Police Department launches SLPD Tips iPhone Application.
The San Leandro Police Department is launching iPhone app that enables the public to send anonymous tips to the police and lets the police respond back, creating a two way anonymous “chat”. The application is a free download.
Developed by CitizenObserver, a St. Paul MN company, SLPD Tips puts a powerful new crime fighting tool into the hands of our community for all ages and demographics.
According to Lt. Jeff Tudor, this capability is a new paradigm for creating safer communities – especially in reaching out to a younger age demographic. “We’re proud to make this technology available to our citizens free of charge. This tool, along with our existing tip411 program, will help our citizens play an active role in keeping neighborhoods safer, it will engage younger folks in the process, and it will save our agency time and resources. “
SLPD Tips iPhone app can be downloaded at the iTunes store for free.
Citizens can also send an anonymous tip to San Leandro Police Department by texting the word SLPD and their tip to 847411. Anonymous web tips can be submitted from the Police Departments website at http://www.sanleandro.org/depts/pd/at.asp
Its 100% anonymous, CitizenObserver’s technology removes all identifying information before the police department see’s it so there’s no way to identify the sender.
