Goleta--Goleta Police conducted a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint on Friday, June 8th as part of Goleta’s commitment to public safety. The checkpoint was held between 7:00pm and 3:00am at Los Carneros Road @ Calle Koral in the City of Goleta. This operation was one of many that have or will be conducted throughout the year in the City of Goleta. Here are the results of the checkpoint:

Vehicles Screened: 653
DUI Arrests: 2
Driving Without a Valid Driver’s License: 4
Driving with a suspended driver’s license: 4
Vehicles Impounded for 30 days: 4
Vehicles Impounded for 1 day: 3
Felony Arrests: 2
Miscellaneous citations: 3

Amber Nicole Rule (DOB 09/02/91) of Santa Barbara was arrested for DUI.

James Michael McGreevy (DOB 03/20/89) of Goleta was arrested for DUI.

George Luis Munoz (DOB 08/28/86) of Goleta was arrested for a Felony no bail arrest warrant, providing false information to a Peace Officer and driving without a valid driver’s license.

Ralph Marquez (DOB 09/05/85) of Santa Barbara was arrested for felony possession of a dangerous weapon after deputies discovered a police baton and a spring activated folding knife in Marquez’s vehicle.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The City of Goleta contracts with the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office for police services.
