Hockley County Sheriff's Activity for 6/5/12:

- East Hwy 114 at Opdyke Gin Rd: Deputies were dispatched to the area in reference to a possible domestic disturbance. A 911 caller advised that she observed a male subject assaulting a female in a vehicle and as the vehicle was stopping the female was ejected from the car. Dispatchers broadcast the vehicle description after the male fled the scene and he was located with the assistance of Levelland Police officers and detained. After an investigation at the scene, the male was placed under arrest for Assault Causes Bodily Injury, Family Violence, a misdemeanor.

- 100 blk 6th St, Whitharral: Animal Complaint.

- 6000 blk East Hwy 114: A deputy on patrol initiated a motor vehicle stop after observing traffic violations. As the vehicle slowed to stop the deputy reported he observed an object thrown from the vehicle. During an investigation into possible ongoing criminal activity, the driver advised he was a convicted felon. During a search of the area near the scene a loaded handgun was recovered and the driver was placed under arrest for felony offenses of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Tampering with Evidence.

Deputies also performed close patrols on area businesses and residences throughout the county, traffic enforcement and criminal interdiction activity.
