Update: FCPD is investigating a three car vehicle accident with personal injury at East Main Street and Riverside Drive.

At 5:27 pm, officers with Forest City Police Department were dispatched to East Main Street and Riverside Drive in reference to a (3) three car vehicle accident with personal injury. The initial police investigation has determined that Brannon Yates McDowell, age 19, was operating a 2002 Mazda pickup traveling eastbound on Main Street. McDowell’s vehicle ran into the back of a 1999 Oldsmobile stopped in the eastbound lane waiting to turn left. The Oldsmobile was driven by Victoria Wolford, age 16, and occupied by passengers Lea Hamby, age 17, and Jennifer Selvey, age 19.
McDowell, Wolford and Hamby were transported to Rutherford Regional. Their status is not known at the time of this report. Selvey was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional. Selvey is in ICU and listed as being in critical condition.
Accident reconstructionist with Forest City Police Department are investigating the accident. Charges in the accident are pending. All roadways are open at the time of this report.
