Sandra Spagnoli Chief of Police
901 East 14th Street, San Leandro CA 94577

PRESS RELEASE

DATE / TIME OF RELEASE: 05-30-12 at 8:45 AM CRIME: Vandalism

PRESS RELEASE OFFICER: Lt. Jeff Tudor TELEPHONE: (510) 577-3232

DATE / TIME OCCURRED: 05-29-12 at 1:00AM

LOCATION: 1400 San Leandro, San Leandro, Ca.

INVESTIGATING DETECTIVE(S): Det. Brum

SUSPECT(S): Jeremy Priddy and Sebastian Arredonda, both 18 years of age, San Leandro residents.

DETAILS:

On 05-29-12 approximately 1:00AM, an off duty San Leandro police officer observed two subjects spray painting “gang” graffiti on the pillars of the Bart tracks. The off duty officer notified the San Leandro Police Communications Center and provided a description of the vehicle they were driving which was a silver Cadillac. At 1:45 hours, a San Leandro police officer observed the Cadillac in the 1600 block of Gardner St. The officer contacted Priddy and Arredonda who were sitting inside the vehicle. During the contact, the officer observed spray paint cans inside of the vehicle and noticed spray paint on Arredondas’ hands. The officer also located a small amount of marijuana located on the person of Priddy. Priddy and Arredonda were placed under arrest for felony vandalism and for committing a felonious crime while being part of a criminal street gang. Officers located approximately 17 different locations in the Williams and Davis St., area where Priddy and Arredonda are suspected of vandalizing. In each criminal act, spray paint was used to “tag” an area with gang related graffiti. Priddy and Arredonda are members of a “Norteno” street gang.

Lt. Tudor said “Police officers are conditioned to be alert and aware even when they are off duty. This heightened sense of awareness helped arrest two subjects who are gang members and who were willfully and maliciously vandalizing property and the San Leandro community. “
