Dearborn Police investigating confidence crime
Area residents should be aware that the Dearborn Police Department is currently investigating an incident of a confidence crime involving an elderly resident. The suspects pose as workers or contractors asking about water bills, roof repairs, or cement/brick work. The suspects distract the resident by asking for buckets, supplies, or current bills and then a second suspect goes through the victim's home looking for valuables.
Chief Haddad would like to remind our residents to be aware of such activity and before letting anyone into their home, check their photo ID. If you feel uncomfortable, do not open the door and call the police. Also, it is our residents keeping a wary eye out for such activity that alerts the police department so we can respond and apprehend these criminals quickly.
