Advisory

Subject arrested on 05/24/12 for the recent home invasions by GPFDPS . Subject has confessed to numerous incidents.

The Grosse Pointe Farms Public Safety Department would like to inform residents of the arrest of a subject responsible for the numerous recent home invasions. Information and evidence had been gathered over the past few days that lead to the identification of a subject named Rudy Vandenbroeck, 21 years of age. On Thursday May 24th, 2012 members of the Grosse Pointe Farms Dept. of Public Safety split into two teams that checked several locations throughout the eastside. With the additional help of citizen tips, and help from the suspect’s family, officers located the suspect at his current residence in Eastpointe. Subject was taken into custody without incident and has since confessed to the majority recent of home invasions in Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe City, and St. Clair Shores. At the time of his arrest the subject had stolen property on his person. It was later learned that he had committed a home invasion early in the day.

Detectives are conducting additional searches at this time in an attempt to recover our resident’s stolen property. However, with the arrest of this subject and his subsequent confession GPF detectives are not positive that he is the sole person responsible. The detective bureau would like to remind residents to remain on alert and report any suspicious persons or situations.

Director Jensen and members of the Public Safety Department would like to thank residents for providing useful information that assisted in the arrest of this subject. Please call the public safety department anytime on anything you might think is suspicious at (313)-885-2100
