A local man stopped for no license plate light was arrested on several charges late Saturday, including an outstanding theft warrant.
Shawn Allen Lockhart, 25, who lists an address of 754 Gold Nugget Loop, was taken into custody shortly after 10 p.m. on a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance, a schedule IV narcotic, as well as being cited for the defective light and no insurance.
According to reports, GCSD deputy J.T. Dunn was traveling on Woodland Shore Road, off Albert Pike, when a green mini-van passed him, and he noted the license plate light was out, so he stopped the vehicle in the 100 block of Phipps Road.
After making contact with the driver, identified as Lockhart, he discovered the warrant for his arrest for theft of property. It was noted Lockhart was unable to produce any registration or insurance on the vehicle, so he was asked to step out.
At that point, Dunn noted what appeared to be a “used gasser to a methamphetamines lab” in the back of the vehicle. In the back of the van, a pill bottle was found containing various pills, including two later identified as Alprazolam, a schedule IV narcotic, so Lockhart was taken into custody.
He was later released on $1,000 bond and is set to appear June 4 in district court.
