(UPDATE) LASD Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a MTA bus operator. Suspect is in custody. 
Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a MTA bus operator, which occurred Sunday morning, May 20, 2012, while the bus was traveling eastbound on Santa Monica Boulevard.
Detectives have learned that West Hollywood deputies responded to a "gunshot victim" call. When they arrived at the scene they saw the bus operator suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
Immediately after the incident witnesses saw a male Black adult climb from a window on the bus and run toward Santa Monica Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard.
The suspect surrendered to the deputies without incident. During the investigation two firearms were recovered from the inside of the bus.
The suspect is currently be held at the West Hollywood Station. There is no further information available at this time.

Homicide Bureau Investigating Officers: Lieutenant Dolson, Detective Leslie, Detective Torres
Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives are en route to the intersection of West Knoll Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male Black adult.
The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
A male adult was detained at the scene.
