Van Nuys Senior Lead Oficers/LAPD has an important message for you! Identity Thefts are on the rise!

Van Nuys Senior Lead Oficers/LAPD has an important message for the community!

Identity Theft Reports have been on the rise during the past several weeks. Please take special care to deliver any important outgoing mail directly to your Mail Carrier or the post Office. Thieves are able to remove your incoming and outgoing mail to gain a variety of Identity Theft information. From 05/14/12 to 05/16/12, we have experienced five (5) seperate reports along the 4300 block of Mammoth Avenue, the 13700 block of Valley Vista, 13400 block of Moorpark Street, 14900 block of Dickens and 3500 block of Camino de la Cumbre. Credit Card information seems to be just one of the items being stolen and items/services are being purchased without the owner's permission. Plese take a good look at your incoming mail to see if you are still receiiving some of those special APR checks that you would not normally expect. Locking and secured mailboxes are important as well as a strong Neighborhood Watch Group keeping an eye out for suspicious persons loitering around the mailboxes. This may well be a "911" call, if you suspect there is a crime in progress. Stay safe out there!
