Officer Involved Shooting
On 05-17-2012 at approximately 11:30am West Monroe Police officers responded to the 1100 block of Tulane Ave. in reference to a reported Domestic Disturbance that was called in by a female resident of the home.
Once on scene responding officers attempted to make contact with the individuals involved. As contact was made with one of the individuals, the individual refused repeated verbal commands at which point the individual brandished a firearm and pointed it towards officers forcing the officers to fire to protect themselves, wounding the individual.
Emergency Medical personnel responded to the scene. The individual was treated at the scene and was transported to the Glenwood Regional Medical Center where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
Chief Christopher Elg requested that the Ouachita Parrish Sheriff’s Office handle the officer involved shooting investigation. They are currently on-scene conducting the investigation at this time.
Any additional information regarding this incident will be disseminated by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Department at the appropriate time.
