2012 Law Enforcement Memorial Week Service to be held Thursday.

On Thursday May 17th, at 3:00 PM, law enforcement officers from around the Texas Panhandle will gather at Llano East Cemetery to honor officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. This ceremony is part of National Police Week 2012. The Law Enforcement Memorial Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony will be held at the “Field of Honor,” located on the east side of Llano East Cemetery. Entry into this area is on the east side of S. Arthur Street, north of SE 34th Avenue.
Law enforcement officers and the public are invited to attend this approximately 30 minute service.
An honor guard comprised of the Amarillo Police Department, Department of Public Safety, and both Potter and Randall County Sheriff’s Office will present the colors and participate in the laying of the wreath.
This service is NOT just for law enforcement personnel. We encourage everyone to attend to show support for these men and women who have been died in the line of duty and for their families.
In 2011, 166 officers died in the line of duty. So far in 2012, 36 officers have lost their lives while on duty. For further information on line of duty deaths, see the Officer Down Memorial Page at www.ODMP.org.
***In case of bad weather, Trinity Fellowship at 5000 Hollywood has offered the North Auditorium for the service.***
