Deputies on Dog In Hot Car Call, 1200 blk. Ogden, West Hollywood, Rescue Dog, Find Drugs & Cash In Car. LASD investigating.
Around 1:30 P.M. on the warm, sunny Sunday of May 13, 2012, West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the 1200 block of North Ogden Drive, West Hollywood, regarding a service call to check the welfare of a dog locked inside of a vehicle.
Due to rising temperatures, deputies entered the vehicle to rescue the animal. In an effort to identify the animal’s owner, a bag located inside the vehicle was opened, exposing several bundles of sealed marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of United States currency.
The dog, which was identified as a German Pointer, was safely removed and placed in the care of Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control personnel. It was listed in good condition.
Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Bureau responded and conducted an investigation. The money and marijuana were seized as evidence. The amount of money was estimated to be over $10,000. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $24,000. The vehicle was also impounded as evidence.
The vehicle in which the dog, marijuana and money were located was identified as a red, 1993 Nissan Pathfinder with Arizona license plates.
