INCIDENT: 18 year old arrested for DUI after causing four car collision

LOCATION: 100 block of Kentucky Street

SUSPECT: Jake A. Lopes, 18 yr old, Petaluma resident

SUMMARY: On the listed date and time, officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision on Kentucky Street. Suspect Lopes was being detained by citizens after they witnessed him driving a vehicle and causing a collision. Suspect Lopes was driving northbound on Kentucky Street, near Western Avenue, when he struck a vehicle a black Mercedes. The driver reportedly suffered a neck injury, but was not transported to the hospital. Suspect Lopes then acclerated his vehicle and drove further north on Kentucky Street, where he collided with a vehicle parked vehicle, causing that vehicle to collide with two other parked vehicles and a tree on the sidewalk. All of the vehicles suffered minor to moderate damage. Lopes was also determined to being driving while unlicensed. Lopes was arrested for DUI and driving while unlicensed. The case is still under investigation for possible Hit and Run and DUI while causing an injury. This was one of eight DUI drivers arrested between Thursday night and Saturday.
