LASD Search for MISSING FBI agent with Burbank PD and FBI

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department personnel deployed throughout the weekend in support of the Burbank Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation search for a missing FBI agent.

On Friday when the missing man was first reported, several sheriff's deputies and bloodhound assisted with the initial search near the home of the missing man.

On Saturday, over 40 Los Angeles County Sheriff's personnel from the Altadena, Montrose, Santa Clarita, and Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Teams assisted in the search for the missing FBI agent in the Verdugo Mountains of Burbank. Sheriff's searchers included specially trained reserve sheriff's deputies and civilian volunteer rescuers, Special Enforcement Bureau - Emergency Services Detail deputy paramedics, bloodhounds, off-road motorcycles, and a helicopter crew. The Sheriff's Search & Rescue Team members are highly skilled and participate in over 450 search and rescue operations each year.

On Sunday, the search continued and included over 20 Los Angeles County Sheriff's Search and Rescue reserve sheriff's deputies and volunteer rescuers, and Special Enforcement Bureau - Emergency Services Detail deputy paramedics.

Sheriff's deputies have participated in the search of over 30 square miles of the Verdugo Mountains on foot, in vehicles and in the air. No sign of the missing person was found. The Sheriff's Department continues to liaison with the Burbank Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation, and when new information is made available as to the possible location or destination of the missing man, Sheriff's Search and Rescue team members stand ready to assist.

Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau-Newsroom deputies have continuously liaisoned with Burbank Police and FBI media relations, and are assisting in outreach with the news media and public, including participating in television news interviews and messaging direct to the public via social media and instant communications.

Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team personnel are reserve sheriff’s deputies who volunteer their time to help others for $1 a year, and who partner with sheriff’s civilian volunteers who volunteer for free. There are over 150 members of the eight Search and Rescue teams of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, who were activated for over 450 search and rescue missions last year, making it one of the most active counties for search and rescue missions in the nation.
