Burglary Arrest Yields Stolen Property From Redondo Beach
On May 7, 2012, patrol deputies from Century station were alerted to a bicyclist near the intersection of Imperial Highway and Compton Avenue. Upon contact with the bicyclist, the deputies could see what appeared to be several stolen items in a large bag the bicyclist was carrying. The bicyclist was unable to produce a receipt for the items and gave several conflicting stories. During a follow up investigation, the deputies discovered the items had been stolen during a burglary at a grocery store in the city of Redondo Beach. The deputies later reviewed surveillance footage from the store that depicted the suspect committing the burglary. The suspect was later arrested and charged with burglary, and the stolen items were returned to the grocery store. This is another outstanding example of Century station’s continued effort toward reducing property crimes.
