The Grapevine Police Department and Data Shredding Services hosts its 5th Annual Vehicle and Identity Theft Prevention tomorrow, May 12 from 9 AM to 2 PM across the street from the Police Department. Residents can get their vehicle's windows etched, shred unwanted and confidential documents at the free event.

VIN etching enables the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to be permanently etched (acid etch) into the major windows of a vehicle. VIN etching is a theft deterrent and may entitle you to an auto insurance premium discount. Not only does VIN etching allow law enforcement officers to quickly identify your vehicle but it also discourages criminals from stealing your vehicle due to the ease at which it can now be traced.

Officers will also provide child passenger safety seat inspections. The inspection enables parents and caregivers to receive education and hands-on assistance with the proper use of child restraint systems and seat belts.
