Cushing Police Make Arrest in Recent Mac’s Quick Lube Burglary
Cushing – An investigation into a burglary that occurred at Mac’s Quick Lube in late April has resulted in the arrest of rural Cushing resident Jacob Clifford Cushenberry, 20. Police expect to present a charge on another Cushing resident believed to be involved in the crime.
Cushing police officer Rachel Hentges and MPO Bill McCarty initially investigated the burglary in late April. During the investigation, police released video footage of persons believed to be connected to the crime. Since the crimes occurrence, police received numerous anonymous crime tips related to the possible identity of the suspects.
Yesterday, Detective Adam Harp and Deputy Chief Tully Folden were able to locate Cushenberry at a residence in Lincoln County. Cushenberry was brought back to the police department where he was interviewed and later booked into the Cushing Jail in connection with the Mac’s Quick Lube burglary.
“I want to commend the good police work done by Officer Hentges, MPO McCarty, Major Folden, and Detective Harp,” Chief Terry Brannon said. “Even though we had video footage, these officers still remain committed to working the case as if there were no video footage, which led to some evidence being recovered that was helpful as the investigation developed.” “Another significant part of this case was the courage of our citizens to get involved. One person even called the Oklahoma City Police Department tip line with very good information. Big time thanks to our community for helping us get this solved. My thanks to the private citizen who makes our web and text message Tip Soft program available here in Cushing,” Brannon said.
Cushenberry was held in the Cushing Jail overnight, later being taken to the Payne County Jail this morning by Deputy Clyde Green.
Cushenberry is expected to be arraigned this afternoon in Payne County District Court on a complaint of second degree burglary.
