Pets In Need to Provide Free Spay and Neuter Services in City of Hollister and San Benito County

HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – May 8, 2012 – On May 7, 2012 the Hollister City Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Hollister and “Pets In Need” regarding Free Spay and Neuter services for area cats and dogs.

“Pets In Need” was established in 1965 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill adoption shelter which also provides free spay/neuter services. “Pets In Need” will be using their mobile spay clinic to perform free spay/neuter services for dogs and cats housed at the Hollister Animal Shelter, as well as spay/neuter services at no cost for dogs and cats owned by residents of the City of Hollister and County of San Benito.

There is a great need in our community to reduce the number of unwanted pets and strays. Having pets spayed or neutered is a proven way to reduce both the unwanted pets and strays.

Hollister Volunteers in Policing (VIP) members will assist “Pets In Need” staff on scheduled surgery days. Surgeries will be by appointment only at the Hollister Animal Care and Services Shelter located at 1331 South Street.

If you would like to schedule an appointment, please contact Hollister Animal Care and Services at 636-4320.
