Three suspects arrested/one hospitalized after two robberies yesterday.

On 5-3-12, at 11:31 PM, officers were sent to 410 S. Mississippi on a reported robbery. Two Hispanic females, both 22 years old, were leaving that home, walking to a car in front of the home. They do not live at that address. They were approached by two black males. One of the men was armed with a dark colored handgun. The one with the gun demanded that the women give him their money. The victims did not comply. The suspect pointed the gun at them and pulled the trigger on the weapon repeatedly. The women heard the gun “click” and were not certain that it was a real firearm. The suspect then struck one woman in the head with the pistol, resulting in what officers described as a one centimeter long cut on the right side of her forehead. The same suspect struck the other woman in the neck with the gun, causing no visible injury. The men then ran to and fled in a white vehicle parked in an alley near the home. The victims saw other people in or near the vehicle. Neither victim required medical treatment, and nothing was taken in the robbery. The suspect with the gun was a young black male wearing no shirt and white, baggy shorts.
At 11:41 PM, officers were sent to 804 S. Maryland on a robbery. Three people there reported that they were sitting outside the home when a white vehicle stopped in front of the home. A black male and white male got out. They asked the three people- a WM 22 and a WF 26 that reside there, along with a WM 26 that was a guest at the home-to use the phone. They declined to allow the pair to use the phone. The suspects then threatened to enter the home and take valuables. The black male produced a handgun and threatened the three. One of the three intended victims, a WM 22, knocked the gun from the suspect’s hand and stabbed him in the abdomen. That suspect fled on foot while the other got into the white car and sped away. A resident of a home in the 700 block of Tennessee found the wounded suspect in her front yard. He was still carrying a 9mm handgun and tried to hand it to the resident, who threw it out in the yard. Officers later recovered the 9mm pistol, which was not loaded. The white Mercury Grand Marquis that fled after the robbery struck a tree in front of 709 S. Maryland, and the occupants ran into the neighborhood. Officers located and arrested two other suspects in the area. Cordrey Dewayn Torres BM 17 of Amarillo was arrested in the 3700 block of W. 6th. He was later booked for aggravated robbery. He matched the description of the man that struck the women with the handgun during the first robbery. Seth Alexander Rawle WM 17 of Amarillo was arrested after he ran from officers and was caught in the 500 block of S. Belleview. He was charged with robbery, possession of dangerous drugs, and evading arrest or detention. A fourth suspect approached the wrecked vehicle while officers were investigating the incident. Investigation indicated that she was in the car or driving the car at the time of the robberies. She was arrested and identified as Kaylee Lurain Smith BF 20 of Amarillo. She was later booked on a charge of aggravated robbery. The suspect that was cut during the robbery is a black male juvenile. He remains hospitalized and his injury is severe but is not believed to be life-threatening. The three that were arrested were booked into the Potter Co. Detention Center.
