ALERT! Numerous entering autos occurring @ Elbert Co. boat ramps.

Sheriff Barry Haston has issued an advisory to citizens in reference to vehicles being broken into at local Lake access boat ramps. Sheriff Haston advised that investigators are working on multiple reports of vehicles being broken into primarily at Pearl Mill and 72 Boat ramps. The incidents have occurred during the daytime and night time hours while the victims are out fishing. He is asking citizens who have been to the boat ramps and may have seen suspicious vehicles or individuals in that area to contact the Elbert County Sheriffs Office at 706-283-2032. He also warns citizens using the boat ramps and leaving vehicles for extended periods of time to be sure and take precautions and not leave valuables inside the vehicle and try to make sure property is not in view as this may deter a break in. Citizens may also try to periodically check on their vehicles while out fishing. Deputies are keeping extra patrols on the boat ramps , especially the more secluded ramps with less traffic. Sheriff Haston thanks citizens for their vigilance for calling his office about suspicious individuals.

Please report any suspicious activity seen in these areas to ECSO @ 706-283-2421.
