Sheriff's Deputies arrest 23yo Timothy Burton II on warrants and gun charges at convenience store.
A Glenwood man arrested on active warrants early Wednesday was charged with having a loaded handgun in his possession at an area convenience store.
Timothy Ray Burton II, 23, was taken into custody shortly before 2:30 a.m., and in addition to warrants, was charged with carrying a weapon, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.
According to reports, GCSD deputies Clayton Green and Matthew Whorton were at EZ Mart, Adcock and Airport Roads, and noticed a man, later identified as Burton, putting air into the tires of a green Jeep.
The man got in and out of his vehicle several times, looking around “in a suspicious manner” and acting “very erratic,” Whorton said, before pulling over to where the deputies were and asking if he could park in the lot.
Green asked to see his driver’s license and after checking it discovered Burton’s license was suspended and he had two active warrants for his arrest out of Garland County.
Burton was taken into custody and patted down and Green found he had an empty holster in his waistband. The deputy asked him where the gun was and Burton said, “At home.”
Whorton checked the trash can near the air pumps where Burton had been and found a fully loaded .38-caliber handgun. A search of the suspect’s jeep revealed several tools, knives, flashlights and bolt cutters.
Burton was later released on $1,000 bond and is set to appear May 15 in district court.
