An apparently intoxicated Garland County man was arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges Friday night after allegedly firing a shotgun and threatening his neighbors.
Jimmy Charles Hartoon, 58, of 206 McGrew Lane, was taken into custody in the 200 block of McGrew Lane shortly before 7 p.m. and charged with a felony count of committing a terroristic act, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and misdemeanor counts of terroristic threatening, criminal trespass and public intoxication.
Hartoon was still being held without bond Monday pending an appearance in Garland County District Court this week. He has a hearing set for May 15.
According to reports,
Garland County Sheriff’s Cpl. Robbie Swinney responded to the 200 block of McGrew Lane, located off Mountain Pine Road, shortly before 6:30 p.m. to 911 calls about a suspect in the yard of his neighbor, 56, at 113 Mc-Grew Lane, who was firing a shotgun.
On arrival, Swinney spotted a man, later identified as Hartoon, walking in the area and neighbors told the deputy he was the suspect with the gun. Hartoon reportedly kept walking even after Swinney told him three times to stop, but he was finally detained.
Neighbors said the suspect went into the yard at the victim’s house and fired his shotgun three times in an unknown direction. No one was reportedly injured.
The deputy located empty shell casings in the yard and recovered the shotgun, which the neighbors had taken away from the suspect.
Hartoon allegedly made threats to the neighbors that he was going to shoot them when he got out of jail. The report did not indicate a motive for the incident.
