CPOA Memorial Run (5k, 10k and Kid's Challenge) & BBQ to honor and remember peace officers fallen in the line of duty

On Saturday, May 12,2012, the California Peace Officers Association (CPOA) is sponsoring a family oriented event open to all friends of law enforcement at Shadow Cliffs Regional Park in Pleasanton. The event features a 5k Run/Walk, a 10k Run as well as a Kid's Fun Run/Walk. The Kids Fun Run is a challenging 1-mile course inside Shadow Cliffs Park for kids up to 12 years old.

Participants who are pre-registered by Thursday, May 3rd will receive a t-shirt. Outback Steakhouse will be sponsoring a BBQ following the event, free for all registered runners. Non-participants can purchase lunch tickets for $12.

All proceeds from the event go directly to Nor Cal C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors), an organization whose sole mission is to assist with the rebuilding of lives of surviving family members of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Each year, between 140-160 officers are killed in the line of duty. Their families and co-workers are left to cope with the tragic loss. C.O.P.S. has over 15,000 members and provides resources and assistance to help these families rebuild shattered lives.
