West Amarillo resident foils 5-1-12 attempt to rob him in his garage.
On 05-01-12 at about 5:53 p.m., a 65-yr old Olsen Park west Amarillo resident was working in his garage with the door open. A tall black male wearing a black hoodie and white pants entered through his open garage door. The suspect was holding an unknown caliber handgun. The suspect ordered the man to lie on the floor and told the victim that he was going to shoot him if he did not comply. The victim had been working on wood trim, and picked up a piece of wood with nails sticking out. He started swinging it at the suspect, scaring him away. The suspect ran from the residence, south from the 4400 block of I-40, and had not been located at the time of this release. No money or property was taken by the suspect. No one was injured.
