Over 88 lbs. of old, unused, and excess medication was turned in for destruction at APD today. In cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Arcadia Police Department collected the medication for proper disposal and destruction.
Old and unused medication can collect in our homes and we often have trouble disposing of the medication safely and properly. Always dispose of medication through programs like this, or you may find certain pharmacy locations where you can purchase mail-in envelopes for disposal programs.
- Do not flush medications down the toilet. The meds can pollute our water supplies and have a negative impact on the environment.
- Do not throw medications in the trash. Unknown persons may find and misuse the medications and we do not want them ending up in landfills.
- Never use medication that is not labeled or not prescribed to you.
- Do properly store medications, keeping them away from, and out of reach of children.
- Do use medications within dates indicated on the labels.
