SAN LUIS OBISPO POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE

WHAT: Sexual Assault
WHERE: Hathway near Longview
WHEN: 4/26/12 @ approximately 2240 hours
SUSPECT: Unknown

On 4/26/12 at about 11:40 pm. two females were walking on Hathway near Longview, adjacent to the Cal Poly Campus. As the females were walking an unknown suspect came up behind them and simultaneously lifted his hands up their skirts and tried to pull down their panties. Both females screamed and the suspect ran away. The females were not injured during this assault.

The suspect was described as a male with an olive skin complexion, approximately 6’ tall, wearing a dark grey zip-up hoodie and jeans with a dark brown or black hair buzz cut.

With the assistance of Cal Poly University Police, SLOPD officers checked the area for the suspect but were unable to locate him.

The San Luis Obispo Police Department has taken recent similar reports of this type of sexual assault on two other occasions. One incident occurred on March 29, 2012 at approximately 11:20 p.m. in the 100 block of Casa. The second incident occurred on April 5, 2012 at approximately 11:40 p.m. near Slack and Longview. On both of these occasions the victims were walking alone.

On the April 5th incident the suspect was described as a white or light skinned Hispanic male in his 20’s wearing a dark colored long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and a dark colored beanie hat. Refer to the news release issued by this department on 4/6/12.

The Police Department recommends that anyone walking around at night pay close attention to their surroundings, not walk alone and stay in well-lit areas. Anyone that may have information about these assaults is encouraged to call the police department.
