The City of New Port Richey proudly offers two wonderful services to the our residents.
Adopt-A-Tree
The City of New Port Richey Public Works Department maintains an Adopt-A-Tree Program for property owners in the City. City residents may request an Adopt-A-Tree be planted adjacent to their property on publicly maintained right of way by contacting our Public Works offices at 841-4536. Our Department will review your request and proposed tree planting location to determine if any conflicts exist with underground or overhead utilities. Upon determining an acceptable location, an 8’ to 12’ Live Oak Tree or Crape Myrtle will be planted during the fall and with your help in donating water will grow to be beautiful and strong for many decades.
Complimentary Recycled Mulch
Once all yard debris has been collected from the City’s private residents (another great complimentarty service we offer to our private residents) it is transported and stored at the City yard waste processing area site across the street from the Public Works Fleet Maintenance Garage on Pine Hill Road. After sufficient accumulation, the yard debris is ground and stored in large wind rows. The wind rows of ground yard debris are turned monthly and sprayed with water to allow for decomposition and processing of the organic matter. The resulting heat that is generated internally during this process eliminates any weed seeds that may remain in a final recycled mulch product. The recycled mulch is available free to the public during daylight hours across the street from 6420 Pine Hill Road and is an excellent product for your fall gardening or landscaping activities.
