Shortly after 12:30 am this morning, a Harper Woods patrol officer observed a male and female couple walking south in the Kelly Road alley from Roscommon. The officer then observed a male subject walking towards the couple from behind. The officer pulled into the alley to investigate and as he was exiting his scout car, he observed the male subject that was with the female fire one round from a handgun at the male who had been approaching the couple.
The discharged round struck the lone male subject; he was transported to St. John’s Hospital in Detroit where he was pronounced dead. Harper Woods officers took the male who fired the shot into custody. The female was also brought to the Harper Woods Police Department for questioning.
Harper Woods detectives are investigating, anyone with information is asked to contact the police department or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-SPEAKUP.
