Multistate crime suspect arrested as Tulsa’s Most Wanted is suspected of committing crime in Cushing.

A Tulsa woman who is accused of criminal activity in four states was arrested shortly after she was named Tulsa’s Most Wanted fugitive. Tameka Denise Johnson, 29, was charged with obtaining property by false pretense in Payne County on Tuesday. An affidavit was filed by Cushing Police Detective Adam Harp after Johnson was alleged to have obtained money under false pretenses from the Cushing Wal-Mart on March 21.

Tulsa police named Johnson as this week’s Most Wanted fugitive Monday afternoon. She was arrested later that evening by the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force in Tulsa.

Johnson is alleged to have stole $3,013.92 on three Green Dot prepaid credit cards after posing as an employee at the Cushing Wal-Mart. Johnson allegedly approached a cashier in the store, telling her she was a new employee and asked her to transfer money from a set of cards, which were later determined to be empty, onto other cards that she then left the store with.

“I want to commend the excellent investigative work by Detective Adam Harp and MPO Bill McCarty,” Chief Terry Brannon said. “Our officers worked with other police agencies and the Wal-Mart Asset Protection staff to develop some excellent leads, which resulted in her being charged last week in Payne County. I want to commend the expeditious manner in which D.A. Tom Lee’s office moved on this case given scope of the crimes alleged to have been committed by Johnson in multiple states,” Brannon said. “This is another case that exemplifies good law enforcement having no boundaries.”

Johnson was booked into the Tulsa Jail just after 7:45 p.m. last night, and is being held for the U.S. Marshals Service.
