The Harper Woods Police Department announces new Online Citizen Police Report System and publication of the 2011 Year End Report

The Harper Woods Police Department is proud to announce that we are one of only six police departments in Metro Detroit to begin utilizing a new Online Citizen Police Reporting System (OCPRS), designed to allow citizens to file police reports for specified offenses using the internet. We are also in the process of setting up a computer kiosk in the lobby and at Eastland Mall to provide additional resources for the program. To qualify, the report must be for an offense that occurred in Harper Woods with no known suspects. The reports are limited to the following:

• Harassing phone calls

• Identity theft

• Larceny / theft

• Lost property

• Damaged property / vandalism

• Private property accidents

The OCPRS program is optional and anyone requesting to make one of the specified police reports directly with an officer may still do so. The concept is to provide a convenient option for citizens, while permitting more officers to remain on patrol protecting the community. A supervisor will review each report submitted and will respond with a report number by email within 72 hours or will advise if additional information is required for possible prosecution. The OCPRS program can be found on the City’s website at www.harperwoodscity.org.

The 2011 Year End Report is also available on the City's website.
