Zone Update - Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information
Canyon Country West: Zone 7
My name is Jeremy Carr. I am the Zone Leader Deputy for the Canyon Country West area. I oversee Zone 7 which covers the city area of Canyon Country located west of Sierra Highway as well as the unincorporated area of Saugus along Whites Canyon Rd/Plum Canyon Rd. I will be providing regular updates to the residents of Canyon Country, informing you of public safety information, as well as addressing any crime concerns in Zone 7.
In order to maximize crime prevention in the area, we need the residents to get involved. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has created several ways for residents to participate in crime prevention.
Following these initial Zone Deputy introductions, I will be sending brief crime snapshots on a regular bases to residents in the area.
The following is a list of resources specifically designed to aid the public in reporting crime:
Call the station to report crimes in progress at 661-255-1121 or 9-1-1
in an emergency.
www.nixle.com –Receive crime alerts from your Zone Leader and local government agencies. Visit the Nixle website to sign up. Encourage your friends and family to also sign up. Select Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station under options and deselect undesired defaults in order to only receive local messages.
www.crimemapping.com – Track reported crime in your area.
http://lacrimestoppers.org – Report crime anonymously to the Sheriff’s Department. You can also call 800-222-TIPS (8477) or text the letters TIPLA and your crime tip to CRIMES (274637).
There is also a free TipSubmit mobile application now available for the iPhone and Android. The new software tool is an anonymous and fully featured crime tipping mobile application that even allows you to submit images or video. More information is available at www.tipsoft.com or search TipSubmit in your applications and again select Santa Clarita.

Along with reporting crime in your area, you must remember to not make it easy for criminals. In the last three weeks, there have been several reported thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Canyon View Estates area. Please remember to lock your vehicles, as well as your residences. Do not leave valuables in plain view.
