Sheriff's deputy arrests 24yo Jordan Stone on possession of controlled substance, during traffic stop.
A Little Rock man was arrested Tuesday evening on a felony drug charge after a routine traffic stop near the junction of Airport and Albert Pike.
Jordan Jeffrey Stone, 24, was taken into custody shortly after 7 p.m. and charged with possession of a controlled substance, a schedule II narcotic, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Stone, who is on probation from a 2008 felony conviction in Garland County, was later released on $3,500 bond and is set to appear May 1 in district court.
According to reports, Dunn passed a blue Honda Civic while eastbound on Airport just before the junction and noticed the vehicle’s brake light was out, so he stopped it.
As he approached the vehicle, Dunn states he immediately noticed a baseball bat in the back seat that was “readily deployable.” He made contact with the driver and his passenger, identified as Stone, and had them step out of the vehicle.
In patting them down, he located a pill bottle and cigarette cellophane in Stone’s pocket. He discovered the cellophane contained 10 pills later identified as amphetamines, about 2.3 grams.
The report notes, “This type of packaging is indicative of sales and distribution of narcotics.” Stone could not produce a prescription for the pills, although he claimed he had one.
Stone was taken into custody on the drug charge while the driver was cited for having defective equipment and released.
