FELONY HIT AND RUN SUSPECT SOUGHT
On 04/17/2012 at 9:53 a.m., a 41-year old female Santa Barbara resident was walking northbound across State St. in the crosswalk at the intersection of State St. and Calle Palo Colorado. As she was in the crosswalk a vehicle traveling eastbound in the number two lane stopped for the pedestrian to cross. The suspect vehicle, which was traveling eastbound in the number one lane, failed to stop for the pedestrian and struck her as she was in the crosswalk, causing her significant injury. The suspect vehicle then drove through the nearby Shell gas station and fled northbound on Calle Palo Colorado without stopping or rendering aid to the injured pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to Cottage Hospital by ambulance and she was admitted into the hospital for her injuries.
The suspect is a dark-skinned male who was described to police as either Hispanic or Middle Eastern, 50-60 years old, square face, unshaven, with black hair. The suspect was driving a glossy black pick-up truck with a black camper shell. The vehicle may have minor to moderate front end or hood damage due to the collision. The suspect is wanted for felony hit-and-run.
A poor image photograph of the suspect truck is attached.
