Effective at the close of business on April 13, 2012, the Anne Arundel County Police Department will no longer be providing civilian fingerprinting services. This is due to State requirements that go into effect requiring that all fingerprints submitted for civilian background checks (gun permits, job applications, various license applications, etc.) be submitted electronically from digitally captured fingerprints. Ink-rolled fingerprints are no longer being accepted.
Although the Anne Arundel County Police Department utilizes "Livescan" technology to capture the fingerprints of criminal arrestees, it is not equipped to capture and electronically transmit digitally captured fingerprints for civilian background check purposes.
