CITY OF GROSSE POINTE FARMS
2012 WATER MAIN FLUSHING PROGRAM
The City of Grosse Pointe Farms will be conducting a WATER
MAIN FLUSHING PROGRAM beginning Monday, April 16,
2012 until Friday, May 11, 2012. The purpose of this program is to
improve water pressure and fire flows to our customers.
Please refer to the color-coded map to find the week in which your watermain is being flushed, and then check the printed weekly schedule (see attached link) to determine the specific day your residence will be affected. Flushing
will take place between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
unless noted otherwise on the daily schedule.
During this process, some residents may experience a temporary lossof water service due to the opening and closing of gate valves. Youmay also experience discoloration of the water due to the disturbingof the natural sediments in the pipeline. This does not contaminateyour water.
We ask that you refrain from using your washing machine on the dateof the flushing scheduled for your street to avoid any potential stainingof the laundry. Should you notice “rusty water” after the flushingis completed on your street, it is recommended that the basementfaucets be allowed to run until the water is clear. Some cloudiness ofthe tap water is common during the flushing program.
