Police Investigate Large Gang-Related fight At Local McDonald's Restaurant.
HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – April 5, 2012 – On March 30, 2012, Hollister Police were called to a local restaurant’s drive-thru lane for a large fight involving multiple gang members.
At about 9:00 PM, officers were dispatched to the McDonald’s restaurant at 151 San Felipe Road for a gang fight occurring in the drive-thru lane. Several 9-1-1 callers reported witnessing the events unfold. One witness reported seeing a suspect with a gun, while others reported one person on the ground being kicked by other males.
Arriving officers detained three men, with known gang associations, who were in a vehicle in the drive-thru. Several suspected gang members fled on foot from the area, prior to police arrival, and some reportedly left in a white Honda.
According to the victims and witnesses, the three men were seated in their vehicle in the drive-thru lane of the restaurant. A group of rival gang members approached and surrounded their vehicle, and then began smashing out their car’s windows with bats and sticks. One of the occupants was pulled from the vehicle, put on the ground, and punched and kicked. None of the men appeared seriously injured, and none of them wanted medical assistance. The three males denied knowing their attackers, other than they were rival gang members.
The Hollister Police Department is still investigating this case, but has very limited suspect information. This incident was frightening to many innocent patrons of the McDonald’s restaurant. The McDonald’s staff took appropriate action in locking their doors to protect their patrons.
